Vitality Age is a number Valdura calculates from your own data to make patterns easier to see and act on. It is not a diagnosis, not a clinical assessment, and not a prediction of how long you will live. It is our own model, not a validated clinical test. Talk to a clinician about anything that concerns you, and never let a number here delay seeking care.

How the number is built

  1. 01

    Start at your calendar age

    Your Vitality Age begins as your actual age. Everything after this moves it up or down from there, so a result equal to your age means your markers are landing where we would expect.

  2. 02

    Compare each marker to its optimal range

    For every marker we have, we measure how far the value sits outside its optimal window. A value inside the window earns a small credit that grows the more room it has from the edge.

  3. 03

    Scale that distance so markers are comparable

    A distance in mg/dL and a distance in milliseconds are not the same size, so each gap is divided by that marker's own range. This is what lets cholesterol and heart-rate variability sit in the same total.

  4. 04

    Weight by how much the marker matters

    Markers carry different weights based on how strongly they track long-term health. ApoB and HbA1c weigh more than folate. The weights are our judgement, informed by the literature but not taken from a published formula.

  5. 05

    Add it up, with limits

    No single marker can move your age by more than 2 years, and the total is capped at 8 years in either direction. Past that point the number stops meaning more and just looks dramatic.

The rules we hold ourselves to

We need at least 5 markers
Below that we show no number at all, rather than a confident-looking one built on almost nothing.
New devices warm up for 4 days
A device you connected yesterday tells us very little, so its data does not count toward your number until it has several distinct days on record.
Device data is averaged over 7 days
One short night does not define you. Sleep, heart-rate variability, resting heart rate, and steps are scored on their recent average, so a sustained pattern moves the number and a single rough night barely does.
Your lab's own ranges win
Where your results carry reference ranges from the lab that ran them, we use those rather than our defaults, because ranges legitimately differ between labs and assays.
Markers we cannot scale are held back
A few markers are reported in different units by different labs. When we cannot confidently size a result, we let it register as a small nudge instead of guessing at a large one.

What this number is not

  • It is not a diagnosis, and it is not a clinical assessment of your health.
  • It is not a prediction of your lifespan.
  • It is not a validated clinical aging biomarker. It is Valdura's own model, built to be useful and legible rather than to match a published formula.
  • It reflects only the markers we happen to have for you. Two people in the same health can get different numbers if one has had more testing.
  • Device figures are your device's estimates, not clinical measurements.
  • Bloodwork reflects the day it was drawn. An older panel still counts, so a number resting on old labs describes an older picture of you.
  • It is not a substitute for talking to a clinician, and no result here should delay seeking care.

Tell your assistant, or report it in the app. We would rather hear that the number looks off than have you quietly distrust it. This calculation has been corrected before because a member said exactly that.
